What you do is decide the clothes in which you are comfortable. You must be comfortable … never flashy, just appropriate, well-tailored, and it’s not unfeminine to be well-tailored.
– Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
Her politics may have been unfathomable, but her fashion sense was always the winning combination of smart and ladylike. Can’t argue with that.
What, pray tell, was unfathomnable about her politics? That for once a politician got it right? I like that we have a quote from Maggie on fashion nonetheless. Something tells me Baronness Thatcher probably didn’t need to overindulge in stylists and designers….she knew what worked successfully and used it. I like that she didn’t find it necessary, as some feminists did, to dress as a male in the hopes she’d be “taken more seriously”. She never had to do that. In some ways she reminds me of Phyllis Schafly in terms of wardrobe. Thanks for the blog!
Well, I disagree COMPLETELY with her politics, but I believe in feeling comfortable in my clothes. Usually that doesn’t mean suits, though.
Her politics were uncomfortable for sure. Good point about suits, Paula. They often are not comfortable, but if they fit well and are not too tight they can be easy to wear. It’s all in the tailoring.
i liked her style..and her confidence too….as for politics…she got Britain out of a recession…….
