Vintage style is timeless, feminine and completely open to your own interpretation. It celebrates women of all ages, shapes and sizes in a way that fashion houses just don’t.

Well put! But I would add that it’s a good idea to mix vintage up a bit. By combining eras and even adding a touch of modern we create more interest and keep it fresh for a truly timeless look.
Agreed! It feels rare (though I don’t spend much time or money on it) to find ‘new’ clothes that mirror the beauty of the natural shape while being comfortable yet structured. While I initially want to pout about that type of fit not being readily and cheaply available…I must say from the maker perspective, I understand. But an inbetween coutoure and ready to wear exists I suppose. I usually crave some 20’s to 40’s silloettes, but have been meaning to update those patterns for more modern movement requirements. Le sigh, someday we’ll get our sewing studio working again. P.s. amazing fabrics and shapes in “The House of Pleasure” 2011 French film. Obviously different than daytime wear, but interesting way to study how dress shapes compare or compliment body shapes, given that dresses are coming on and off.
Thanks for your thoughts Abbie. New clothing is all about comfort and people do not like structure in the duds these days. So we don’t have the elegance and sophisticated looks that we find in vintage clothing. Cheers …
