Who else out there looked at fashion magazines as a child? My mother told me that she used to cut out images and make paper dolls. Certainly, there’s a fairytale quality to fashion magazines – the beautiful models, the extraordinary clothing, the exotic photoshoots – it’s pure fantasy. And who can resist?
Vogue Retrospective in paris- Now ! Sarah Jessica Parker , on youtube, narrates fashion history by the decades. Very well done. But Women/people of color- very little shown. What a shame.
My area of research- Jazz Age, I HAVE COLLECTED A GREAT DEAL OF PHOTOS. GLAD OF THAT!

I can remember making a couple of paper dolls out of fashion magazine images, but because there never any photos with people in the same poses, it was impossible to cut out dresses to put on them. So I drew and colored the clothing I liked from the magazine on plain paper, and cut those out to dress the dolls.
I love it! Thanks for sharing your paper doll story, Laurie.
