Congratulations to my mother who made the top ten on Huffington Post Style Section Stylish Moms contest. I posted this photo and for a while she made it to #6, out of over 170. Way to go, Mom and thanks to all of you who voted.
This is my favorite photo of my mother from the 1960s. Standing in front of our Victorian flat in San Francisco, she’s searching for her keys in my favorite purse. A bag of groceries sits next to her shapely legs. (Even in a candid shot, Mom knows how to present herself.) She’s wearing an antique silver and turquoise ring and sporting a simple skirt and sleeveless blouse and hey, how about those sunglasses? That’s my stylish mom.
Mom loved it, too. It was her everyday run around the city bag. She used it until it wore out. By the time she decided to let it go, I had moved on to other attachments, but I’d think about it from time to time and ask her if she remembered that bag.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mom.
Definitely NOT overdressed … dressed JUST RIGHT!!

[…] Going through all the photos, I notice Queen Elizabeth, Camilla, and Catherine all clutching handbags, but not our First Lady. Without a bag, her outfit looks incomplete. But I have to admit that I’m a lady who likes her handbags. […]
Stylish indeed! Your mom is beautiful!
