Mom looked so darn cute the other day I just have to write about it. She has always dressed well but she says now that she’s elderly (her word) it’s a challenge. Still, she makes the effort usually adding a lovely scarf and plenty of jewelry.
On this cold winter’s day she popped her ensemble with color – violet/blue, black, and touches of bright red (note in the photo the red stripe on the jacket’s left arm). It’s the knit cap that makes the outfit and what’s super cool about it is the antique silver belt buckle brooch. Mom says that the cap is hand knit and way too big for her so she folded it over and to keep the fold in place she attached the brooch. Fashion cleverness!
Wanna know something else? The cap and the brooch came from a thrift store. Mom used to volunteer for a thrift store that raises money for suicide prevention. For years she managed all the jewelry that was donated.
I really appreciate Mom’s creative use of thrift finds and by watching her all my life I have learned a lot about individual chic.
What a lucky girl am I to have grown up with such a style maven.
